[December 15, 2007]  CHAMPAIGN -- Coach Ron Zook and the Fighting Illini football team will appear at a Fighting Illini pep rally at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 at Universal Studios CityWalk. The Marching Illini and Illini cheer squad will also perform at the pep rally. The first 3,500 people will be allowed entry into the pep rally area.

Admission to the pep rally is free of charge and does not include access to Universal Studios Hollywood. Fighting Illini fans are encouraged to save their Universal Studios Hollywood visit for the next day, Dec. 31, when Illini Bash takes place throughout the park.

"The number of public and media appearances that are pre-scheduled for Coach and the team made it nearly impossible to find a slot for this event," said Chris Hanna, assistant director of athletics. "The fact that Coach Zook created a window for this free event with the team prior to the Rose Bowl shows his amazing commitment to Illinois fans."

Special $72.50 tickets to the Dec. 31 Illini Bash event, which will be inside the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park, are now on sale. That event includes all rides in the park, a special Illini parade and access to a special Illini Bash room. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 31. Fans must buy special tickets for the Illini Bash in advance through Ticketswest.com or by calling 1-800-325-SEAT anytime, 24 hours a day. Tickets may not be purchased on the day of the event.
