[FEB. 5, 2007]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Charles A. "Chuck" Letterle, 80, of Mount Pulaski died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at 8 p.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Jeremy Thomason officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Lake Bank Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski.

Mr. Letterle was plant manager for Kane Molasses in Mount Pulaski for 29 years.

He was a World War II veteran and served 1945-1946 in the Philippines and Guam in the 93rd Squadron of the 19th Bomb Group.

He was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Latham to Fred Oscar and Mary Frances Kerwood Letterle. He married Gladys Maebell Callahan in Mount Pulaski on Dec. 23, 1950.

He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; one son, Donald Ray Letterle of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Mitzy Letterle of Lake Fork; one brother, Oliver (and Erma) Letterle of Chestnut; one sister, Louise Savage of Milton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Lucille and Vicki Sue, and one son, Dennis.

He was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church and Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447.

Memorials may be made to Vonderlieth Living Center, Mount Pulaski Christian Church or Alzheimer's research.
