'New Relationships' and 'Single Sexuality'

[FEB. 14, 2007]  Am I ready to begin dating again? How can I make sure a new relationship will work out? If I don't remarry, how can I deal with the loss of intimacy?

These questions will be answered when the DivorceCare support group meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Street Christian Church, 1700 N. Jefferson.

DivorceCare is a video seminar series featuring experts on divorce and recovery topics such as coping with loneliness and depression, financial survival, and single parenting. Each session also includes group discussion.

"New Relationships" suggests 12 ways divorced individuals can know whether they are ready to begin dating again. The video features pastor and author Tony Evans of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, Dallas, Texas, and Gary Richmond, pastor and author of "The Divorce Decision."

"Single Sexuality" offers suggestions for dealing with sexual urges and desires after divorce. Featured experts include author and speaker Dick Purnell; licensed clinical social worker Linda Mintle, Ph.D.; and Elsa Kok, editor of the single-parent-family edition of Focus on the Family magazine.

DivorceCare will meet Mondays through March 26. Participants may join the group at any time during the 12-week series; preregistration is not required. Cost of the DivorceCare workbook is $12. Child care is available.
