Perry Nichols

[February 26, 2007]  Perry Neale Nichols, 49, of Jacksonville, Fla., nephew of a Lincoln woman, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at his home.

The cause of death is unknown, and the coroner is investigating.

His body will be cremated, and a graveside service will be at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mr. Nichols was a self-employed carpet layer and had worked on shrimp boats.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was born March 14, 1957, in Canton, Ohio.

Survivors include his mother, Peggy Ann Leathers Lahmeyer of Springfield; his father, Ronald Lee Nichols of Springfield; one brother, Kevin Lee Nichols of Jacksonville, Fla.; and an aunt, Jean Mellott Cypher of Lincoln, who cared for him for several years.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Carrie Welker Hahn, who lived in Broadwell and also helped care for him.

He was of the Christian faith.

He graduated from Lanphier High School in 1975.

Memorials may be made to Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
