[JAN. 17, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension sponsors bingo

The Logan County Extension Service will sponsor the regular Thursday bingo games beginning at 1 p.m. The prizes are food items for the winners to enjoy. Come join the fun and bring a friend.

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the library at The Oasis. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Annual board meeting open to public

The Oasis, in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the bylaws, will have its annual meeting of the corporation in conjunction with the regular meeting of the board of directors on Thursday. The annual meeting is to provide information on the accomplishments of 2006 and the goals for 2007. The evening will begin with a business meeting starting at 5 p.m., followed by refreshments and entertainment. To schedule any matters on the agenda, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.

Bunco

Bunco games will begin at 1 p.m. Monday. Refreshments will be provided by Marilyn Armbrust from Regions Bank. Come join the fun!

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Jan. 23 features pasta bake, salad, garlic bread, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Jan. 22.

"Journey of the Roman Empire"

Join The Oasis for a September cruise to the Mediterranean region. Don't miss the opportunity to visit lands that rim the Mediterranean region, where civilization began. Encounter popular cities such as Rome, Athens and Dubrovnik, as well as ports farther off the beaten path, such as Katabolic, Kusadasi, Santorini and more. You are cordially invited to a meeting where Connie Nunn from Town and Country Travel will preview the trip, ship and itinerary for this adventure. The cruise meeting is scheduled for Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. at The Oasis.

Winners for the week announced

Linda Hughes was the weekday pinochle winner, and the weekend pinochle winners were Bernie Haley and Helen Opperman. The winners at five in one were Ann Chromiak and Linda Hughes. Congratulations.
