MKS in Clinton tournament          Send a link to a friend

[July 02, 2007]  CLINTON -- MKS lost a down-to-the-wire game 8-6 Saturday in the Clinton 10-and-under tournament.

"It was an excellent game to watch," said MKS coach Joseph Plummer. "Both teams made some great plays and had some awesome at-bats. It just goes to show, if you gave your absolute best effort and you still lost the game, you can still walk away as a winner. The girls on both teams played their hearts out. Clinton just happened to be the better team on the scoreboard."

Losing pitcher for MKS was Rebecca Brooks, who also had a hit and a run while at the plate. Jessica Plummer had a walk, a single, a double, two RBIs and scored twice. Madison Bishop had a walk, a double, one RBI and scored once. Hayley Turner had a double and one RBI. Hailey Renfro had two singles and one RBI. Breanna Waller scored once for MKS. Jordan Wood walked three times and Abby Cline had two walks. Stephanie Smith made great contact with the bat to advance runners into scoring position but did not reach base successfully.

The game came down to the winning run being on first base with the bases loaded, two outs and full count on the batter. It was a great game to see -- win or lose.

Clinton continued to the next round of the tournament on Saturday.
