NORMAL -- Former Illinois State
running back Sha-Ron Edwards is having a pretty good week. On
Saturday he scored a third-quarter touchdown for the Frankfort
Galaxy in NFL Europa's World Bowl XV, and on Thursday he signed a
free-agent contract with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.

Edwards joins former ISU teammate Laurent Robinson, who was selected
in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Falcons. Edwards and
Robinson played together for the Redbirds during the 2003 season.
Edwards was a 2003 All-Gateway First Team selection for the Redbirds
and still owns the third best single-season rushing total in
Illinois State history. He legged 1,409 yards on 247 carries with 14
touchdowns during the 2003 campaign. During the year, Edwards
compiled a pair of 200-yard rushing games, against Missouri State
(239) and Western Kentucky (233).
The Falcons begin training camp on July 25, when both the
veterans and rookies report to the training facility in Flowery
Branch, Ga.
