[March 01, 2007]  NORMAL -- After leading Illinois State in rushing during the 2003 season, Sha-Ron Edwards joined the RiverCity Rage of the United Indoor Football league, but now the former Redbird running back will be taking his career overseas. The Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe selected Edwards as the first pick in the 16th round of the free agent draft.

Edwards owns the third-best single-season rushing total in Illinois State history. He legged 1,409 yards on 247 carries with 14 touchdowns during the 2003 campaign. During that year, Edwards compiled a pair of 200-yard rushing games against Missouri State (239) and Western Kentucky (233).

Last season at RiverCity, Edwards led the Rage in rushing yards with 804 and rushing touchdowns with 26 in just 11 games.
