Edith Awick

[March 17, 2007]  Edith Awick, 90, of Lincoln died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 6:05 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Carroll Richards officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.

Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Miss Awick was employed as a secretary at Sieb's Hatchery for many years and then at Community Action in Lincoln for several years.

She was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Eminence Township to the late John Charles William and Katherine Elizabeth Lucas Awick.

She is survived by her brother, Arthur Awick, of Lincoln; two nephews, Dale Awick of Libertyville and Larry (and Debbie) Awick of Sardinia, Ohio; and four nieces, Shirley (and Darrell) Klockenga of Crown Point, Ind., Marilyn (and Joe) Hayward of Georgetown, Lavonne (and John) Morrow of Newman and Nancy (and Richard) Canova of Des Plaines.

She was a lifetime member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was the head of music for more than 70 years. She loved to play the organ for the glory of God.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
