Robert Bland

[October 04, 2007]  ATLANTA -- Robert "Bob" M. Bland, 62, of Atlanta died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at 2:20 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Troy Voyles officiating.

Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery.

Mr. Bland worked for General Electric Company in Bloomington for 28 years. He was most recently employed in the maintenance department of Westminster Village in Bloomington.

He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 24, 1967, to Oct. 24, 1971.

He was born July 6, 1945, in Lincoln to Frank and Budella Bradway Bland. He was raised by his mother and his stepfather, Harold Vannoy.

He married Dawn Harris on July 27, 2002, in Middletown.

Mr. Bland is survived by his wife, of Atlanta; one daughter, Charlotte Dee Bland; two sons, Robert E. (and Tammy) Bland and Chad (and Dianna) Bland; three brothers, Jerry Adams of Atlanta, Larry Vannoy of Atlanta and Abraham Vannoy of Lincoln; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Tina Gilmer, and one brother, Dennis Adams.

He was a member of the Machinists union.
