[September 12, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck and bingo

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at The Oasis for our monthly potluck. We will feature meatloaf, special dishes, salads and our homemade desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount is $3. Stay for bingo games sponsored by the Christian Village. Entertainment will be provided.

September birthday party

Birthday time! Come celebrate September birthdays with us at the senior center on Monday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be games, prizes, entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Oasis bingo

The Oasis hosts bingo and a raffle every Tuesday evening at the Lincoln Park District. The games are open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the games starting at 6:50 p.m. The Sept. 18 special is "Monkey Around." For every second, third or fourth purchase of the Monkey Business game, you may apply the following rebates: $12 computer minus one rebate good for $8; $16 computer minus two rebates good for $8; $20 computer minus three rebates good for $8. Your first Monkey Business paper purchase does not qualify for an extra computer rebate.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Sept. 18 features Polish sausage, spiced cabbage, potatoes, bread and butter, dessert and drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Winners for the week announced

Mina Bradburn was the weekday pinochle card game winner. Ruth Ackerman and Eleanor Barton were the weekend winners for pinochle. Ella Graney and Dorothy Oltmanns were the winners at five-in-one. The rummy winner was Dorothy Oltmanns. Congratulations!
