Wheat prices climb to peak           Send a link to a friend

[September 27, 2007]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Wheat prices surged Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery jumped 30 cents, the maximum permitted, to settle at $9.1725 a bushel; December corn rose 3.25 cents to $3.75 a bushel; December oats were flat at $2.815 a bushel; November soybeans added 17.75 cents to $9.9075 a bushel.

Beef futures declined, while pork futures finished mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle fell 0.32 cent to 97.25 cents a pound; October feeder cattle fell 0.15 cent to $1.1592 a pound; October lean hogs dropped 0.7 cent to 60.3 cents a pound; February pork bellies rose 0.63 cent to 89.35 cents a pound.
