Vivian Wise Fricke, 88, of Lincoln,
died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 6:12 a.m. at Christian Village
Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United
Methodist Church of Lincoln, with Ryan Edgecombe and the Rev. Jame
Hahs officiating. |
Burial will be in Diamond Grove Cemetery,
Jacksonville. Mrs. Fricke was a retired elementary
teacher. She taught at Butler School in Springfield
from 1941 to 1945 and at West Lincoln School from
1965 to 1985. She was also a funeral director and
owner of Fricke Funeral Home in Lincoln and Mount
Pulaski from 1952 to 1981.
She was born April 27, 1919, at Boody to Charles
Everett and Mary K. Knapp Wise. She married Armin E.
Fricke on June 30, 1946, at Jacksonville. He
preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1986.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters,
Pamela (and Roy) Erickson of Tallahassee, Fla., Mari
Jo (and Dr. Don) Baker of Morton, Chuck (and Penny)
Fricke of Mount Pulaski, Fritzie Klockenga of
Dunlap, Richard William "Bill" Fricke of Mount
Pulaski and Mindy (and Mark) Leith of Lincoln; 13
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother,
Jack Wise; one sister, Helen Johnson; and one
daughter-in-law, Kris Lessen Fricke. She was the
last of her immediate family. |
She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Lincoln and the Ruth Circle of the church,
Lincoln Eastern Star and White Shrine, Lincoln
Woman's Club, Zonta, Monday Women's Bridge Club,
Round Robin Card Club, Illinois Retired Teachers
Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and
Lorette Chapter Beta Sigma Phi.
Memorials may be made to Christian Village
Congregate Ministries, Memorial Home Services
Hospice and First United Methodist Church of
Lincoln.
