Scattered rain was predicted to fall in the Great Lakes, while snow will fall in the Upper Midwest. This cold air will drop temperatures several degrees in the northern half of the Plains and Great Lakes.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms were expected over Florida for much of the day. This precipitation will gradually diminish in the late afternoon and evening.
In the West, a Pacific storm system will push moist air well inland through the Northwest, Intermountain West and Great Basin. This moisture will allow rain and high elevation snow to fall from the Northwest Coast through the Central Rockies.
Temperatures in the Northeast will rise into the 40s, 50s and some 60s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The Upper Midwest will rise into the 30s and 40s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 50s and 60s. The Southwest will rise into the 70s and 80s.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of minus 7 degrees at Yellowstone, Wyo., to a high of 92 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
