[April 09, 2008]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Shirley Jean Baker, 69, of Mount Pulaski, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at 9:08 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark Drews officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Baker worked in sales at Stahl's Furniture of Mount Pulaski and Wal-Mart in Springfield.

She was born Jan. 8, 1939, in Lincoln to Ralph and Inez Menzel Broughton. She married Russell D. Baker in Mount Pulaski on Nov. 19, 1979.

She is survived by her husband, of Puyallup, Wash.; her mother, Inez Broughton of Naperville; three daughters, Kathleen (and Tom) Bruce of Lincoln, Elizabeth (and Ken) Bertram of Naperville and Ellen Claypool of Pleasant Plains; three sons, Gene (and Deborah) Schoth of Mount Pulaski, Shawn Baker of Riverton and Nicholas Baker of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She was a member of Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church and the American Business Woman's Association.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals.
