ATLANTA -- Glenn E. Williams, 86, of
Atlanta, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 8:40 a.m. at OSF St.
Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home in Atlanta. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the
funeral home, with Maurice Stribling officiating. |
Burial, with military rites, will be in McLean
Cemetery, rural McLean. Mr. Williams worked for
C.W. Frey Chrysler, Barker Motors, Johnnie Martin
Chevrolet and Lawrence Rust Cadillac as a mechanic.
He also was a salesman for Saturn Tire in
Bloomington.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Bloomington to
Carl and Tressie E. Bustle Williams. He married Lucy
D. Gordon on June 22, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years; one
sister, Betty Haughawout of Springfield, Ohio; and
five brothers, Danny (and Ilene) Williams of
Clinton, Tommy (and Ada) Williams of El Paso, James
(and Betty) Williams of Florida, Charles (and Mary)
Williams of Gridley and Jerry (and Sharon) Williams
of Normal.
He was preceded in death by four brothers,
Vernon, Gordon, Kenneth and Denzel. |
He was a member of Burger-Benedict American Legion
Post 573 in McLean and a life member of Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 454 in Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad
or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
