Oasis update

[April 16, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension service to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. Come and win nutritional prizes.

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in The Oasis library. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Oasis board meeting

The Oasis board will meet on Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

April birthdays

Birthday time! April birthdays will be celebrated at the senior center on Monday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Come enjoy entertainment, cake and ice cream.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Tuesday features hard-shell tacos, salad and dessert. The cost of the meal is $3.75; or, if you stay and play cards, the cost of the meal is $3.25. The deadline to make reservations is Monday noon.

Bingo at the Rec

For Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center, the computer special is "Package Night." Purchase a package for $14 and get any computer of your choice for $10. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is 6:50 p.m.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Kathy Roos and Bernie Haley. The weekend winners were Harold Goodman and Helen Opperman. For five-in-one, the winners were Ruth Barry and Dorothy Oltmanns.
