Lincoln Churches Come Together in Action Trivia night fundraiser for Alaskan missionary recruits [April 16, 2008] A trivia night scheduled for April 25 at Jefferson Street Christian Church will support Matthew and Rachel Grossmann, SEND International missionary recruits, as they prepare to move to rural Alaska this summer. Matthew, who currently teaches sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at Chester-East Lincoln Elementary School, is accepting a teaching position at Perryville, Alaska, in a remote Native American village. Proceeds from the trivia night will help with the couple’s relocation costs.The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in The Well youth center at the church, which is located at 1700 N. Jefferson St. People are invited to build a team of up to eight players, who will face challenging and fun trivia questions in 10 diverse categories, including Cubs-Cardinals, music and history. [Text from file received from Paula Gramley] Praise Service at Camp Griesheim Christian Retreat Center on April 20 [April 14, 2008] ATLANTA -- The public is invited to a praise service on Sunday, April 20, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Camp Griesheim Christian Retreat Center, rural Atlanta. Speaker for the evening will be Sam Rosa, LCC student and soccer coach. Rosa is originally from Brazil and came to the U.S. in February 2000. His father, a pastor in Campinas, commissioned him to plant a Brazilian church in Orlando, Fla. While there, Sam also did youth group and ministry work at the Shalom United Church of Christ. Music will be provided by Nathan Bassett and a freewill offering will be accepted to help offset ongoing operating expenses of Camp Griesheim. [Text from file received from Dena Bergman] Father/Daughter Royal Purity Ball [March 29, 2008] CLINTON -- The Father/Daughter Royal Purity Ball at Little Galilee Christian Assembly Activity Center is planned for May 17, from 7 to 10 p.m. The event is for girls of all ages and their father (or father-figures). The elegant evening is designed to encourage daughters to practice purity of heart, mind and body, and to encourage fathers in their role of authority and protection of their daughters.
