[April 16, 2008]  (AP)  Scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected Wednesday along a cold front from the Upper Great Lakes through the mid-Mississippi Valley and Central Plains.

Light to moderate rain was also likely over the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, and scattered snow showers were forecast for the Rockies.

Sunny and mild weather was in store in the East, South and West, though some light rain was expected to continue over western Washington. The Northwest was expected to remain cool, with highs unlikely to break 60.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a low of 15 degrees at Berlin, N.H., to a high of 98 degrees at Laughlin, Nev.
