Hazel Hutchinson

[April 21, 2008]  Hazel R. Hutchinson, 92, of Lincoln, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at St. Clara's Manor.

A memorial service for Mrs. Hutchinson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. John M. Hutchinson Sr. and the Rev. Phillip Blackburn officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula, Mont., at a later date.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hutchinson was a schoolteacher in Montana for 19 years.

She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Great Falls, Mont., to Charles Thomas and Mildred L. Dodd Rice. She married John William Hutchinson on May 26, 1940, in Great Falls, Mont. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1994.

She is survived by her son, John Michael (and wife Jean Ann) Hutchinson Sr. of Lincoln; two grandsons, John Michael (and wife Kathryn) Hutchinson Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., and Erik Brandon Hutchinson of Bloomington; one sister, Helen Wood of Columbus, Ohio; and one great-granddaughter, Madalyn Hutchinson.

She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

She was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa teacher honorary and was of the Episcopalian faith.

She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Great Falls, Mont., and later graduated from the University of Montana in 1937 with a degree in English.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the building fund at Lincoln College.
