Jean Gail Hahn Dougherty, 87, of
Lincoln, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 9:55 a.m. at St. Clara's
Manor.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tim Searby officiating. Visitation
will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. |

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mrs.
Dougherty taught in country schools and retired from
Beason Elementary School after 26 years. She was
secretary for the Lincoln City Council for 35 years.
She was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Mount Pulaski to
Fred and Doris Gruber Hahn. She married John James
Dougherty on Nov. 3, 1949, in Lincoln. He preceded
her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan (and T.J.)
Cosgrove of Lincoln and Debbie (and Pat) Singleton
of Lincoln, and one son, J.P. Dougherty of New York
City, N.Y. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
are Jeff, Jody, Kevin and Chloe Cosgrove of
Plainfield; Beth Ann, Josh, Neely and Maeve Greene
of McCordsville, Ind.; Troy Singleton of Lincoln;
and Richie, Leslie, Drew and Dylan Singleton of
Lincoln.
She was also preceded in death by one sister,
Billie Anderson, and one great-grandson, Rowan
Dougherty Greene. She was the last of her immediate
family. |
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of
Mount Pulaski.
She was a founding member of Lincoln Community
Theatre, a lifelong member of Lincoln Community
Concerts and a member of the Sub-Debs bridge group.
She was a Courier Citizen of the Month in 1984.
Memorials may be made to Carroll School or St.
Clara's Manor.
