Donald Joseph Dooley, 86, of Lincoln,
died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at 11:05 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Cremation will be handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home of Lincoln. |
Mr. Dooley worked as a salesman for Harwicks
Furniture in Lincoln and retired as manager of Avery
& Comstock Furniture Store, where he worked for 22
years, and from Lincoln Furniture and Floor
Covering, where he worked for 13 years. He was a
U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Brushy Mound
Township, Macoupin County, to Leonard H. and Flora
Selhime Dooley. He married Ferne Melton on Jan. 19,
1951, in Pocahontas, Ark. She preceded him in death
on Dec. 24, 2007.
He is survived by one sister, Margaret Straub of
Powell, Wyo.; three nieces, Joellen Hall of Bethalto
and Linda Corso and Marilyn Hamblin, both of
Litchfield; and one nephew, Walter C. Eppinger of
Gillespie.
He was also preceded in death by one sister,
Retha Badman, and one nephew, Robert Eppinger. |
He attained the rank of sergeant in the military
service and received five Bronze Stars and one
Silver Star in the European Theater.
