Ralph G. Parker, 88, of Gainesville,
Ga., formerly of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at his home
following a long illness. |
His graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at
Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln, with the Rev.
Jeffrey G. Laible officiating. Peasley Funeral
Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Parker was employed in the cosmetic, chemical
and pharmaceutical industries in Lincoln and in
northern New Jersey. He retired to Gainesville, Ga.,
in 1987.
In World War II, he spent four years as a field
artillery officer stationed in the European Theater.
He was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Jasper County to
Frank and Olivia Parker. He grew up in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Avalyn
Parker of Gainesville; two daughters, Anne (and
Michael) Murray of Santa Monica, Calif., and Carolyn
(and David) Benvenuti of Waterford, Conn.; three
grandchildren, David (and Marin) Murray of Los
Angeles, Calif., Amy (and Chris) Latyak of West
Chester, Pa.; and Nadine (and Michael) Finnerty of
Bryn Mawr, Pa.; and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Mark Parker, preceded him in death. |
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in
Gainesville, Ga.
He graduated from St. Joseph's College in
Rensselar, Ind., and attended Harvard Law School.
Friends will remember him as a devoted husband,
father, grandfather, golfer, tennis player and
gardener.
