Dorothy 'Maw' Ridge

[February 16, 2008]  Dorothy M. "Maw" Ridge, 89, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at 6:50 a.m. at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson Street Christian Church. Her funeral will follow at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. J.K. Jones will officiate.

Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery, Bloomington, Ind.

Peasley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Ridge was a homemaker.

She was born May 12, 1918, in Bloomington, Ind., to John William and Bertha Vaught Stillions. She married Orville Ridge in Spenser, Ind., in December of 1937. He preceded her in death in January 1977.

She is survived by one daughter, Reba (and David) Amerson of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Sally (and Steve) Smiley of Tustin, Calif., Patrick (and Terri) Smith of Franklin, Ind., Craig (and Brenda) Smith of Lincoln and Carolina Amerson of Madison, Ala.; 12 great-grandsons; and six great-granddaughters.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Koontz.

She was a member of Jefferson Street Christian Church and the 50-plus class at the church.

"Maw" lived for 80-plus years in southern Indiana, where she was a member of the Smithville Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church or The Christian Village.
