Robert Lawrence Comstock, 79, of
Lincoln died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at 12:20 p.m. at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian
Church of Lincoln, with the Rev. Phillip Blackburn officiating. |
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln and
on Friday at the church one hour prior to the
service. Burial will be at Union Station Cemetery.
Mr. Comstock retired in 1989 from the St. Gobain
production department.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949,
including 33 months with the occupation forces in
Japan.
He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Lincoln to Willard
Charles and Helen Fleming Comstock. He married Norma
Snyder on March 17, 1951, in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three
sons, Robert Comstock of Belleville, David (and
Alice) Comstock of Lincoln and Richard Comstock (and
Barb Thomas) of Jupiter, Fla.; one daughter, Susan
(and Kendall) Hurley of Lincoln; one sister, Pat
Diersing of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren, Robert (and
Tammy) Comstock of Belleville, Rebekah Comstock of
Belleville, Andrew (and Stephanie) Comstock of
Belleville, Amy Vernon of Aberdeen, Md., Sarah (and
Rick) Puls of New Holland, Matthew Comstock of
Lincoln, Derek Hurley of Lincoln, Laura Hurley of
Lincoln, Deena Comstock of Jupiter, Fla., and Darren
Comstock of southern Illinois; and four
great-grandchildren, Madison Vernon, Nathan Puls,
Ryan Comstock and Anna Comstock.
He was preceded death by two brothers, Charles
and Donald; one nephew; and a daughter-in-law. |
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Lincoln.
He had served as an election judge for the East
Lincoln 11 precinct.
He worked with Pony League baseball and was
cubmaster for Pack 118 at Chester-East Lincoln.
He enjoyed Cubs and Bears games, fishing, and
traveling. He was a former member of the retired
Good Sam camping club
He attended Lincoln schools and graduated from
Lincoln Community High School in 1946.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather
and was quick to help others. He will be greatly
missed.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian
Church or the donor's choice.
