Evelyn Bateman

[June 30, 2008]  Evelyn L. Bateman, 93, of Lincoln, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at 9:50 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mrs. Bateman was a homemaker.

She was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Chestnut to Ernest and Tena Seavers Donnan. She married Francis Luke Bateman on June 8, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2002.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Blaum of Mount Pulaski; one son, Leland Ray Bateman of Springfield; one brother, Harold (and Helen) Donnan of Lincoln; one sister, Edna (and James) Strachan of Chestnut; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Garland Bateman; two brothers; and two sisters.

She was of the United Methodist faith.

She liked cooking, knitting and crocheting.

Memorials may be made to St. Clara's Manor or the donor's choice.
