James Robert Carlson, 73, of Normal,
formerly of Lincoln, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 1:45 p.m. at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Dustin Fulton
officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral
home. |
Burial, with military rites, will be in Zion
Cemetery. Mr. Carlson retired in 1988 from General
Telephone Co., where he worked as a supervisor.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Pontiac to John T.
and Lois Wilson Carlson. He married Maxine May on
Oct. 6, 1960, in Fort Madison, Iowa. She preceded
him in death on April 2, 1984.
He is survived by one son, Jay Carlson of
Lincoln; two daughters, Tammy (and Rodney) Matson of
Lincoln and Tina O’Hara of Lincoln; one sister,
Lynne Carlson of Atlanta, Ga.; and four
grandchildren, Aaron Matson of Lincoln, Chris Matson
of East Peoria, Lauren Matson of Lincoln and Jason
Carlson of Lincoln.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one
brother, Jack Carlson; and two grandsons. |
He was a member of Eastside Christian Church in
Bloomington, Moose Lodge of Bloomington and Eagles
Lodge of Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society.
