Joshua Scott

[June 23, 2008]  CARTHAGE -- Joshua Anthony Scott, 31, of Muscatine, Iowa, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at 4:35 p.m. at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. He was a 1994 graduate of Lincoln Community High School.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bowen Christian Church, 2336 E. State Highway 61, Bowen, Ill. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will follow in the Loraine Cemetery at Loraine.

Printy Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.

Josh was born in Quincy on Sept. 15, 1976, the son of Darrell and Marla Campbell Scott.

He is survived by his father, Darrell Scott and his wife, Toni, of Smithfield; his mother, Marla Scott and her fiance, Rick Berry, of Des Moines, Iowa; his girlfriend, Kristi Nixon of Muscatine, Iowa; grandparents Nadine Scott of Bowen and Robert and Sandra Campbell of Bowen; a half brother, Isaac Seay of Keokuk; five stepbrothers and stepsisters, Frederick Seay of Keokuk, Angela Seay of Keokuk, Michelle Seay of Des Moines, Iowa, DeAngelo Seay of Keokuk and Heidi Petersen of Cuba, Ill.; his stepgrandparents, Lyle and Judy Lefler of Cuba, Ill.; his former stepfather, Frederick Seay of Keokuk; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Russell Scott.

He received his bachelor's degree in 1999 from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., where he was an active member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity and a member of the swim team.

He continued to be active in his fraternity and also served as a volunteer coach for the Muscatine swim team. He was an avid golfer.

Josh loved his family and was especially close to his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
