Earl Beecraft

[March 10, 2008]  Earl L. Beecraft, 94, of Lincoln, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 3:15 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Kenneth "George" Guernsey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mr. Beecraft retired from Lincoln Developmental Center and from Pittsburg Plate Glass as a night watchman.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Dawson to David Vertion and Josie Mae Hancock Beecraft. He married Ardella C. Bergschneider on Dec. 10, 1932, in Springfield. She preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1986.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen Petro of Lincoln; two sons, Larry (and Judy) Beecraft of Parachute, Colo., and David Beecraft of Jacksonville; four grandchildren and one stepgrandchild; 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church, American Legion Post 263 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, American Legion Post 263 or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756.
