Agnes Eckert

[May 07, 2008]  Agnes L. Eckert, 90, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 4:30 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.

The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. Eckert worked as the head cook for Central School for 20 years. 

She was born March 28, 1918, in Broadwell Township to Ananias and Pearl Wallace Huskins. She married Donald M. Eckert on June 8, 1947, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1999.

She is survived by three sons, James "Bud" Babbs, Robert (and Deborah) Eckert and Daniel (and Anna) Eckert, all of Lincoln; four daughters, Joyce (and Marvin) Oltmanns, Nancy (and Louis) Farkas, Mary (and Matthew) Mason, all of Lincoln, and Judith (and Charles) Barkley of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, Kenneth (and Kathy) Huskins of Lincoln; one sister, Jean (and Robert) Lolling of Lincoln; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-children.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, one grandson and one great-grandson. 

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Logan County Cooks' Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936 and from Brown's Business College in 1938. She was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.
