[May 17, 2008]  (AP)  Showers and thunderstorms were expected in Florida and parts of the Southeast Coast on Saturday.

Showers were also expected in the coastal areas of New England, while scattered showers were predicted for the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.

New Mexico and Texas were to see possible scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Well above normal temperatures were anticipated in the West.

Temperatures were expected to be in the 60s and 70s in the Northeast; 70s and 80s in the Southeast and Plains; and from 80s to the 100s in the West Coast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of 25 degrees at Lake Yellowstone, Mont., to a high of 107 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
