Jean Lewis

[May 28, 2008]  Jean Lewis, 84, of St. Anne, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at 5:13 p.m. at The Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Street Christian Church.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lewis was a tax assessor for Aroma Township in Kankakee County.

She was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Mahomet to Ed and Lela Herriott Lewis. She married Charles W. "Red" Lewis on May 25, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by her son, Bill (and Betsy) Lewis of Lincoln; one brother, Russell Lewis of California; and two granddaughters, Samantha and Katherine Lewis of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Edward Lewis, in 1989.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Bradley Evangelical United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Champaign High School.
