LCC Angels release their schedule in NCCAA national tournament

[November 10, 2008]  The Angels of Lincoln Christian College (23-9), ranked second in the nation, will travel to Omaha, Neb., to participate in the Division II NCCAA National Volleyball Championship Thursday through Saturday. The Angels are seeded second in the tournament and will play in Pool B for their first four matches. They will open with Southwestern College at noon Thursday, play Kentucky Christian University at 6 p.m., will then challenge Southeastern University at 10 a.m. Friday and conclude pool play at 4 p.m. Friday against Manhattan Christian College.

CivicThe winners and second-place teams in Pool A and Pool B will advance to the semifinals Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and the championship game will be contested at 3 p.m.

LCC qualified for the tournament by winning the Midwest Regional.

The Angels enter the tournament with impressive statistics, as LCC is the No. 1 team in the nation in average kills per game, with Krystine Schnautz, Jamie McFadden and Adriane Tschantz all ranked in the top 24 in individual kills; has the No. 1 assist leader in Megan Donnelley; has the No. 3 digging leader in Jessica Schroeder; has the No. 6 and 7-ranked blockers in Nicki Wingfield and Schnautz; and is ranked second in blocking average, second in assist average and third in attacking percentage.

The Angels can expect their greatest challenge to be Clearwater Christian, ranked No. 1 in the nation and seeded No. 1 in the tournament. Clearwater will head up Pool A, which also includes Philadelphia Biblical University, Grace University, Providence College and Ozark Christian College.

The 2008 Angels are attempting to become the third national champions for Lincoln Christian College the past 11 years, joining the teams of 1998 and 2003.
