LCC Preachers win, Angels drop opening basketball games

[November 15, 2008]  GRAYSON, Ky. -- The Preachers of Lincoln Christian College won their season-opener Thursday night as they defeated Kentucky Christian University 71-65 in the Super 8 Classic at Grayson, Ky.

Jon Wallace's 18 points and eight rebounds sparked LCC. Matt Searby added 12 points, five assists and two rebounds, and Ben Paulson contributed 11 points and three rebounds. Kyle Wilson had eight assists.

DonutsThe Preachers were scheduled to face Wesley College on Friday afternoon.

Angels drop opener

Facing the Southeastern University Lady Fire, the Angels of Lincoln Christian College opened their 2008-2009 season with a 58-41 loss in the Super 8 Classic.

The Angels played the Fire tough in the early minutes of the game but could not stop Southeastern from jumping out to a 33-15 halftime lead. With a strong second half, the Angels cut the Fire's lead to 17 to finish the contest.

LCC was led by Jessica Blythe with 15 points and eight rebounds, Kim Kersey with six points and nine rebounds, and Jessica Schmidgall with seven points.

The Angels were to face the host team, Kentucky Christian’s Lady Knights, on Friday at 6 p.m.
