SHERMAN -- Leslie N. "Les" Williamson
Jr., 88, of Sherman, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at 10:10 p.m. at
Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at
the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Olander officiating. |
Military rites and private burial will be in Camp
Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Mr.
Williamson retired in 1984 from Pacific Bell and
Illinois Bell Telephone after 39 1/2 years as a PBX
installer and craftsman.
He served in the Marines during World War II.
He was born July 2, 1920, in Lincoln. He married
Mildred Oltmanns on Aug. 7, 1955, in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Sherman; one son,
Clifford "Marti" Williamson of Foothill Ranch,
Calif.; two daughters, Judy Holden of Sherman and
Debra (and Mike) Grisham of Carmel, Ind.; two
brothers, Dr. Arthur (and Marilyn) Williamson of
Lincoln and Dr. Robert (and Shirley) Williamson of
Pekin; one sister, Dorothy Cargill of Chicago; five
grandchildren, Tisha (and Paul) Holden Sadowski of
Chicago, Morgan and Tommy Grisham of Carmel, Ind.,
Kacey and Jack Williamson of Foothill Ranch, Calif.;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie N.
Williamson Sr.; his mother, Beulah Scott Williamson
Schmidt; and one brother, Clyde Williamson. |
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.
He was wounded in the Marshall Islands during his
military service and received the Purple Heart.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of
Lincoln, Zion Lutheran Church of New Holland or the
donor's choice.
