 Monsoon moisture was to extend into the Southwest. Moderate scattered showers and thunderstorms were forecast for New Mexico and Arizona.
Dry and cool conditions were to persist along the West Coast.
The Southeast was to see showers and thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast. Hurricane Ike was expected to weaken as it moved through Cuba. The Florida Keys remained under a hurricane watch.
To the north, the Northeast was to see dry and warm weather. There was a chance for showers in northwestern New York, but probably not until Tuesday.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 27 degrees at Fossil Butte, Wyo., to a high of 119 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
