[April 14, 2009]  (AP)  Tuesday was expected to bring a storm system through the Ohio Valley and cold weather in the West.

In the East, numerous light rain showers were to fall over the northern Mid-Atlantic, and more bands of showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast.

Heavy rainfall was expected to bring flooding risks to the Gulf Coast, while there was a slight risk of severe weather in the Tennessee Valley and Southeast.

In the West, cold temperatures and strong northwest winds were forecast. Areas of morning frost are expected to develop over the inner valleys, while light, scattered rain and snow showers were to blanket higher elevations. Thunderstorms were possible in the Pacific Northwest.

Showers were to persist across the northern Plains. Flooding along rivers was possible.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of 13 degrees at Climax, Colo., to a high of 100 degrees at Harlingen, Texas.
