Mildred Gresham

ARMINGTON -- Mildred E. Gresham, 103,
formerly of Armington, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at 7:38 p.m.
at TLC Nursing Center in Oneonta, Ala., where she had been a
resident since March 2007. She had previously lived with her
daughter Donna and husband in Blountsville, Ala., since 2000.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Armington Christian Church.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Melvin
Gresham officiating. |
Burial will be in Mountjoy Cemetery, rural Atlanta.
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge
of arrangements.
Mrs. Gresham was mainly a homemaker but owned and
operated Mildred's Cafe in Armington for several
years.
She was born Sept. 4, 1905, at Parnell, Iowa, to
Charles F. and Elmira Lyons Ransom. She married
Milton C. Gresham on Feb. 20, 1924, in Clear Lake,
Iowa. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1976.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna (and
Roger) Chappell of Blountsville, Ala., Wanda (and
Skip) Kiesling of Fort Collins, Colo., and Leta
Marlett of Heyworth; two sons, Ronald (and Carmen)
Gresham of Minier and Melvin (and Marilyn) Gresham
of Monticello, Ky.; 29 grandchildren; 81
great-grandchildren; and 70
great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sons,
Burnell Paul, Charles Arthur and Gilbert Leroy; one
grandson, Michael Gresham; one son-in-law, Bill
Marlett; two sisters; two brothers; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Armington Christian
Church and did many things through her church,
including volunteer work at the Lincoln Christian
Nursing Home. |
One of her favorite pastimes was gardening and
growing plants and flowers. While living in Alabama
she enjoyed going to karaoke on Friday nights.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She
was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly
missed.
