Jack Renshaw Harrison Sr., 86, of
Lincoln, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian
Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Phillip Blackburn officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, with military
rites by American Legion Post 263. |

Funeral Home in Lincoln. Mr. Harrison was a bridge contractor with the
family business of Ben Harrison and Sons and a
retired superintendent of Rowe Construction Co. of
Bloomington.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born March 6, 1923, in Decatur to Benjamin
F. and Wilda Rowe Harrison. He married Dorothy
Buckstegge on Jan. 22, 1950, in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons,
Jack "Jay" Jr. (and Debra) Harrison Jr. of
Bloomington and Joseph (and Teresa) Harrison of
Rochester; one daughter, Jan Saylor of Lincoln; one
granddaughter, Caroline (and Mick) Fleming of
Bloomington; one grandson, Brenton Saylor of
Lincoln; one great-grandson, Jackson Fleming of
Bloomington; and two sisters, Dorothy (and Emory)
Gaffney of Lincoln and Katherine Abbott of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben R.
and Phillip H. Harrison, and one grandson, Alvin
Saylor. |
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Lincoln, American Legion Post 263 and a lifetime
member of Lincoln Elks Lodge 914. He served on the
Union Cemetery board and the Broadwell Grade School
board.
He was scoutmaster of Troop 102.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian
Church or W.D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America.
