The 2009-2010 academic school
year has officially begun at Lincoln College, but the college isn't
asking students to study too hard just yet. Throughout the "Week of
Welcome," aka WOW, students were asked to participate in orientation
activities, and participate they did! There were events every
evening, starting Sunday with the "Taste of Lincoln."

The Taste of Lincoln is the first meal on campus for the new
students. Local restaurants -- Culver's, Domino's, First Wok, Jimmy
John's and Stuffed-Aria -- provide tasting portions of their popular
menu items. The event allows the students to have a great meal and
get familiar with businesses close to campus for alternative food
options when the cafeteria isn't what they desire. Later that
evening the students were invited to participate in a Casino Night
where the buy-ins were free and the prize were cash. What student
doesn't need cash?
Monday night there was a Monster.com
presentation on academic success and its impact on a student's job
potential and marketability. Tuesday night, after the first day of
classes, was First Fun Night, which consisted of a water balloon
fight, the college president and vice president in the dunk tank,
and cotton candy, popcorn and snow cone machines cranking out over
300 snacks while music played throughout the quad.

Fredrick Winters, a hypnotist, had the students falling out of their
chairs -- literally -- on Wednesday night. And the gymnasium was
buzzing for hours Thursday night while local businesses and campus
clubs and organizations lined the floor with giveaways, discount
options and opportunities to get involved in extracurriculars on
campus.
The faculty, staff and administration are looking forward to a
great year, and if the participation in events this past week is any
indication, this year's student population will be highly involved,
invested and successful at Lincoln College.
