Mary Schilling

[December 08, 2009]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Mary Glen Schilling, 90, formerly of Elkhart, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at 8:34 p.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elkhart Christian Church, with Matthew Rogers and Bob Twist co-officiating.

Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery.

Mrs. Schilling ran the Country Bumpkin in Elkhart for over 25 years.

She was born Sept. 19, 1919, at Delavan to Jonathan Oscar and Pansy Pearl Smallwood Rogers. She married Clarence Schilling Jr. on Sept. 7, 1947, at Emden Christian Church. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1994.

She is survived by one son, Stephen (and Kathi) Schilling of Monticello; one daughter, Martha (and Larry) Gleason of Middletown; six granddaughters, Sarah (and Jeremy) Ross, Rachel (and Ryan) Aupperle, Elizabeth (and Brent) Johnson, Carrie (and Jason) Logsdon, Emily (and Ryan) Thomas and Abby (and Nathan) Franz; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Roy O. Schilling of Decatur; a sister-in-law, Nelda Rogers of Emden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Herbert Rogers, and one sister, Rachel Rogers Schilling. She was the last of her immediate family.

Funeral Director

She was a member of Elkhart Christian Church, where she was a member of the women's council, a Sunday school teacher, and sang in the church choir and for many weddings and funerals. She was also a member of Elkhart Needs and Goals and assisted the Elkhart Cemetery Association.

Memorials may be made to Elkhart Christian Church or Vonderlieth Living Center Foundation.
