Lincoln coach Kirk Whiteman commented on the game:
"I thought our guys did a great job of defending for about 30
minutes! However, those other 10 minutes I am sure we were outscored
by 15 points. We were up 31-14 with about two minutes to go in first
half and went in at halftime 31-23. 9-0 run we gave up. I am looking
forward to this team playing defense for all 40 minutes.
"Kiel Turpin
(Normal West) had his breakout game, scoring a game-high 22 points
(9-13) and grabbing eight rebounds. He ran the floor and our guards
got him some quick transition baskets. When we needed to run
half-court offense, we did, and that allowed our posts to go to
work, scoring 44 points in the paint. We moved the ball well, which
was represented in our shot distribution."
Chris Ware had 14 points on 5-12 shooting with 12 rebounds,
Kenyon Smith 14 points (6-10), Kyler Works 14 points (4-12), and
Demarius Sumrell had eight points with four steals.
Lincoln moves to 11-4 (2-0). Danville drops to 4-8 (0-2).
Lincoln will play their next game at home Jan. 7. The Lynx are
anxiously awaiting the opening of the new Lincoln Center, a new
athletic facility the Lynx will move into during the month of
January.
