A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec.
28, at Eminence Christian Church, with L.C. Sutton
officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 6
p.m. until the service time. A graveside service
will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Niblick
Cemetery, rural Atlanta. Military rites will be
conducted by the Atlanta American Legion.
Quiram Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Boatman spent his working years mostly
farming and trucking. He also served as the Eminence
Township road commissioner in the 1960s. He retired
from Lehn & Fink Products in Lincoln.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Carl Edward Boatman was born Feb. 23, 1923, in
Olney, the son of Daniel R. and Bethel Phoebe Corbin
Boatman. He married Ruth Bloemker on April 8, 1945,
in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Nancy
Langley-McCollum (and Jeff), C. Wayne Boatman (and
Kathy) and Roger Boatman (and Rene Cooley), all of
Atlanta; one sister, Elizabeth Brackney of Lincoln;
18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joy
Jackson and Louise Schmidgall.
He was a member of the Eminence Christian Church,
where he was an honorary deacon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
building fund at his church.
