Roger M. Kelly, 79, of Lincoln,
formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at 12:50
p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday at the funeral home in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Frank
Pieper officiating.
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount
Pulaski. Military rites will be conducted by Mount
Pulaski American Legion Post 447. |
Mr. Kelly
retired after 25 years with BoJac Seed Corn of Mount
Pulaski.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953,
during the Korean War.
He was born Oct. 17, 1929, at Belvidere, in Boone
County, to William D. and Hazel Meyers Kelly. He
married Bernita "Bee" Nelson in Woodstock on Sept.
8, 1953.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son,
Michael Ray Kelly of Edwardsville; two daughters,
Sally Ann (and Richard) Talmage of Merit Island,
Fla., and Kristine Marie Huff of LaFayette, La.; one
brother, James Duncan (and Joann) Kelly of
Fairfield, Calif.; two grandsons, Jason and Kyle
Talmage; two granddaughters, Kari Baker and Kelly
Darbonne; and four great-grandchildren, Sophia
Darbonne, Ava Beauford, and Seth and Trinity Talmage.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of
Mount Pulaski, a life member of Mount Pulaski
American Legion Post 447 and a member of Lincoln
Elks Lodge. |
He attended Caledonia Grade School, attended
Caledonia High School for three years and graduated
from Belvidere High School.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran
Church of Mount Pulaski.
