
New
academic vice president named at Lincoln College, Lincoln

Martha Wilson, Ph.D., was
recently appointed as the academic vice president of the Lincoln
campus of Lincoln College. Wilson, who will begin her duties July 1,
currently serves as the associate vice president for academic
affairs at Macon State College in Macon, Ga.

In making the announcement, Lincoln College President John
Hutchinson said: "We are very pleased to have someone with Dr.
Wilson's background in higher education join Lincoln College. I am
confident that she will provide superb leadership to the academic
side of the house, and I know the entire Lincoln College community
will join me in welcoming Dr. Wilson to Lincoln College."Wilson
brings over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience to
Lincoln College. During her tenure at Macon State College her
accomplishments include accreditation and reaccreditation,
assessment, program development, faculty development, and service to
Phi Theta Kappa, the national lower-division academic honorary
society. In 1999, she was recognized as distinguished regional
coordinator by the international Phi Theta Kappa organization.

She has over 30 publications and presentations in the fields of
American literature and higher education administration.
She holds a bachelor's degree magna cum laude, a master's degree
summa cum laude and a doctorate in English summa cum laude, all from
the University of Tennessee.

Wilson said she is looking forward to the new opportunity.
"I am extremely happy to be joining the leadership team at
Lincoln College," Wilson said. "I am intrigued and inspired by its
history, mission and its people. I eagerly await the many
opportunities the position offers. I look forward to working closely
with the faculty, staff and students to help create a future that we
can all be very proud of."
