Betty Long

[January 12, 2009]  Betty J. Long, 84, of Lincoln, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at 9:40 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating.

Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.

Mrs. Long retired after 40 years of farming with her husband.

She was born April 23, 1924, in Lincoln to Ralph "Papa" and Florence "Mom Badgett" Berns Badgett. She married Harry J. Long on April 7, 1943, in Bowling Green, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2007

She is survived by one son, Gary (and Karen) Long of Lincoln; two daughters, Gail (and Floyd) Aper of Normal and Gwen (and David) Armintrout of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of New Holland United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary 715 of New Holland.
