SPRINGFIELD -- Dean Rock, 72, of
Springfield, formerly of Lincoln, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at
6:15 p.m. at his home.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. |
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the
funeral home, with the Rev. Kurt Smith and the Rev.
Bill Dolan co-officiating. Burial will be in Mason
City Cemetery, Mason City.
Mr. Rock retired in 1998 after 30 years with the
street department in Lincoln.
He was born May 25, 1937, in Mason City to Willie
and Hauty Jones Rock. He married Bernice Jewell on
Dec. 22, 1956, in Hardyville, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, of Springfield; two
daughters, Anita Joyce (and Kenneth) Dooley of
Tallula and Deanna (and Warren) Bradley of Broadwell;
two brothers, Bill (and Cheryl) Rock of Center, Ky.,
and Tom (and Janice) Rock of Lincoln; one sister,
Lilly Finn of Campbellsville, Ky.; four
grandchildren, Brandt Patton of Springfield, Alicia
(and Brian) Mayberry of Atlanta, and Ericka and Tara
Bradley, both of Broadwell; and two
great-grandchildren, Allyx Andrea and Cohnor
Langley, both of Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
brother. |
He was a member of Southern Baptist Church of
Lincoln and attended Berean Baptist Church in
Springfield.
Dean loved to do Civil War re-enactment and was
an avid hunter and camper.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central
Illinois.
