Mr. McGuire, 85, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., died May 9,
2009, in Lehigh Acres. Mrs. McGuire died Oct. 15,
2002, at age 76, at their home in Lehigh Acres.
Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, rural
McLean.
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta is in
charge of arrangements
Mr. McGuire served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years
as a communications specialist. Then he and his wife
were federal employees at Naval Communication System
headquarters in Washington, D.C. After their
retirement they traveled and located in Florida.
Vern, son of Lawrence Patrick and Lilly Gertrude
McGuire, was born Sept. 6, 1923, at Funks Grove.
Betty, daughter of Vickery Berlin and Versa Troxel
Bateman, was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Atlanta. Vern
and Betty were married on June 9, 1944, in Atlanta.
Surviving are their sons, Daniel Lee McGuire of
Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Paddy Mark McGuire of New
York.
There are three surviving brothers of Mr.
McGuire: Roy of McLean, Paul of Bloomington and Dale
McGuire of Texas. He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Weldon and Jimmy. |
One sister, Joyce Polacek of Arkansas, survives Mrs.
McGuire, along with cousins Virginia Canfield and
Paul Bateman, who were raised by her parents. She
was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Ray
Bateman.
