Viola
Mae Baldwin, 89, of Lincoln, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at home,
surrounded by the love and care of her daughter.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Holland Barry and Bennett
Funeral Home. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home. |
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Baldwin retired from Lincoln Developmental
Center in 1982. During World War II she had worked
in ammunition plants to help support two of her
brothers, who were fighting in the war.
She was born March 4, 1920, in Monticello to
Stanley James Sharp and Martha Jane Allen Sharp. She
married James Benedict on March 13, 1936. She later
married Corbin "Rocky" Baldwin on Dec. 23, 1950, and
he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta (and
John Sr.) Ingram of Lincoln; three
grandchildren, John Ingram Jr. of Armington, Theresa
McDannald of Armington and Kelly Jean Teutsch of
Minier; seven great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandsons.
She was also preceded in death by three
brothers, Roy Henry Sharp, Ray Basil Sharp and
Stanley James Sharp Jr.
She was a member of Broadwell Christian Church. |
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting and
passed many of her creations on to her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to Broadwell Christian Church or Memorial Home
Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
