Thelma Louise Hudspeth, 94, of Lincoln,
died Monday, June 22, 2009, at 10:15 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Wallace Reifsteck
officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral
home.
Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason. |

Hudspeth retired from J.C. Penney Co.
She was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Lincoln to Enno
and Rose Gertrude Lenhardt Werkman. She married
James L. Hudspeth on Dec. 2, 1933, in Beason. He
preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1988.
She is survived by one son, Robert L. Hudspeth of
Lincoln; two daughters, Rosemary Klokkenga of
Springfield and Connie L. (and Philip) Dehner of
Lincoln; one brother, Donald L. (and Helen) Werkman
of Lincoln; six grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by one brother,
Harold "Bud" Werkman; a sister-in-law, Alta Werkman;
and a son-in-law, Glen Klokkenga.
She was a member of St. John United Church of
Christ and the charity guild and elevator committee
of the church. She was also a member of The Oasis
and AARP.
She graduated from Beason High School and was a
member of the Beason Alumni Association. |
Thelma was an avid gardener, loved to hunt for
antiques and was a fantastic cook. Raised in the
Depression era, she never let food go to waste.
She was thankful for all the loving care she
received while a resident at St. Clara's Manor,
especially her very special friend Bill.
She is at peace and will be deeply missed.

of Christ.
